‘Blitz’ editor R K Karanjia dead
Mumbai: Former 'Blitz' editor R K Karanjia died at his residence today, family sources said. He was 95.Karanjia, who was one of the most dynamic editors of the tabloid 'Blitz,' was a firebrand journalist who never hesitated from calling spade a spade.He is survived by his daughter Rita Mehta, the editor of Cine Blitz.Born on September 15, 1912, Karanjia, brother of noted film journalist B K Karanzia, had worked as the Assistant Editor of Times of India. He left the Times of India in 1940 to launch the now-defunct Blitz.Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmkh said "Karanjia was one of the finest investigative journalists who had a style of his own.""In his death, we have lost a fearless journalist, Deshmukh added.© Copyright 2008 PTI.
